Catalyst Cohort

Schools need educators in classrooms that understand their own culture, blindspots, and biases and the impact these components have on students. Teachers who regularly grow in their own awareness and recognize the diverse backgrounds and experiences of students are more likely to promote inclusive and equitable learning environments.

In addition to growing awareness, this knowledge must challenge educators to change their instruction to incorporate culturally responsive strategies that reflect students’ lives and experiences. Doing so helps to bridge the gap between students’ home cultures and the school culture which empowers all students to achieve their academic potential.

Together we will:

  • Enhance the classroom culture to reflect students' lives, experiences and culture

  • Improve culturally responsive instructional and engagement strategies

Training Includes:

  • 4, two hour sessions of live professional learning via Zoom or in person

  • Scheduled over 6 weeks

  • A one-on-one, 30-minute personalized coaching session for each participant

  • Minimum of 3 participants, maximum of 10

Participants will leave with:

  • A framework to build alliances with students

  • Specified plan of action to build trust and form an alliance with one focal student

  • Access to instructional strategies that improve information processing

  • A renewed sense of purpose & self-efficacy to make impactful instructional moves to improve student learning
